Dr. Goldberg is Shaad-McBryde Professor of Pediatrics, Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Chief, Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and Director of the Jean and George Brumley Jr Neonatal-Perinatal Research Institute. He leads the Neonatal-Perinatal Research Institute (NPRI), which provided Dr. Katsanis the Brumley Professor Chair, facilitating expansion efforts to translate progress in genomics to clinical medicine, with a particular focus on applications in Neonatology. The NPRI has provided Dr. Katsanis with resources required to initiate the Task Force for Neonatal Genomics including significant financial support for purchase of an Illumina GAIIx Next-Gen sequencer. Dr. Goldberg has had extensive experience in the design, conduct and data analyses of neonatal pre-clinical and clinical research involving single and multi-center collaborative trials. He has been site PI for Duke in the NICHD Neonatal Research Network, serving on multiple subcommittees including serving as chair of the Network’s Genomics Subcommittee.
